Privacy Policy

PetTalk AI ("the App") is published by Artem Osetrov ("we", "us"). We respect your privacy and the privacy of your pet. This page describes what data the App collects, how it is used, and what your choices are.

1. Data we collect

• Pet profile — name, species, breed (optional), age (optional), and an optional photo. Stored locally on your device.
• Audio recordings — short (≈ 3 sec) audio clips of your pet. Recordings are processed on-device using Apple's SoundAnalysis framework. Audio is NOT uploaded to our servers. Only the detected sound category (e.g. "cat_purring") and your pet's basic metadata are sent to our AI provider to generate an interpretation.
• Photos — when you use the Photo Mood Scanner, the chosen photo is sent (over HTTPS, in transit only) to our AI provider for analysis. We do not retain photos on our servers.
• Purchase status — whether you have an active subscription. Handled by RevenueCat on Apple's StoreKit. We do not see your payment details.
• Diagnostics — anonymous, on-device event counts (e.g. translations performed, share actions). Used only for product analytics; no advertising identifiers, no tracking across other apps or websites.

2. Data we do not collect

• We do not require account creation or sign-in.
• We do not collect your name, email, address, or contacts.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not sell data to anyone, ever.

3. Third-party services

• OpenAI (policy) — receives anonymous prompt text and, for the Photo Scanner only, an image. Used solely to generate the interpretation returned to you. Per OpenAI's API policy, requests sent via our API endpoint are not used to train OpenAI's models.
• RevenueCat (policy) — manages subscription state and verifies receipts with Apple's App Store.
• Apple — Apple StoreKit handles payments. We never see your card.

4. On-device permissions

• Microphone — required to record your pet's sounds. Recordings stay on your device unless you explicitly save them to the Diary.
• Camera / Photo library — required for the Photo Mood Scanner.
• Notifications — optional; used only for the daily mood reminder.

5. Data retention

All pet profiles, recordings, and diary entries live in the App's local database on your device. You can erase them at any time via Settings → Delete all my data. Uninstalling the App also removes local data.

6. Children

The App is rated 4+ and is suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, as no personal information is collected from anyone.

7. Your rights

Because the App does not retain personal data on our servers, there is no remote profile to access, correct, or delete. To remove on-device data, use Settings → Delete all my data or uninstall the App.

8. Entertainment disclaimer

PetTalk AI is provided for entertainment only. We do not claim to scientifically translate animal speech. Interpretations are generated by an AI based on acoustic and visual cues and should not be used for medical or behavioural decisions. If your pet shows signs of illness, please consult a veterinarian.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date.
